These omnivores are found across Asia, living in heavily forested mountains, hills, and tropical rainforests spanning from Pakistan to Japan. Unfortunately, the moon bear population faces extinction due to habitat loss through deforestation, human exploitation, and illegal hunting, with bear bile being an ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine.
